The Galleon Bar is Blackpool’s favourite retro music bar. It’s the kind of gem you would ordinarily find tucked away in the back streets of any cultural city. Over both floors, can be found a plethora of music and retro memorabilia. Where else could you find a traditional telephone box, Beatles gallery, authentic 19th century church pews and a Doctor Who tardis? We also have an impressive collection of bespoke neon signage and a ‘Stairway to Heaven’ recognising music legends over the past 50 years. The Galleon operates as an attitude-free zone venue and is to promote equality and diversity.
Nobody could have expected the ongoing pandemic, and the damage it has done to the music and entertainments industry all over the planet. We cannot wait to welcome you all back, when it is feasible to do so, during these unprecedented times.Until then, please stay safe and supportive.
The original Galleon Bar opened as a basement coffee bar on Adelaide Street.
A few years later it became established as a cocktail bar and restaurant with live music.
On 31st December 2010, The Galleon Bar was re-established at its current site on Abingdon Street. Over the past decade we have proudly carried forward The Galleon legacy of promoting equality and live music.
By holding a Blackpool Jazz & Blues Festival for the incredible Trinity Hospice, we managed to raise a massive £11,985.54, which has helped the hospice to no end and provide much needed support!
Whilst closed during the majority of 2020, we took the opportunity to get new signage up outside our Abingdon Street venue.
The Galleon Bar is pleased to support year round local employment, suppliers and trades persons. We are also pleased to promote live music and support aspiring and season music talent.
